@ Megha: Without getting too technical, he did what every medical student gets taught to do in a similiar situation. Her CO2 levels were really high, so he changed the settings on the ventilator so that she had a longer time to expire and get rid of the accumulated CO2

Vatsa….this is an absolutely beautiful post. It’s all too often that the people behind a woman’s success are ignored because it is so great to talk about how a woman achieved success beyond all odds. I know there are many women who do and I admire them for it. But I know for me, if I have achieved anything it is due to the people around me.

Anyway your post inspired me enough to blog after over 6 months! so for that I have to thank you too!

Very beautifully written!

This was a very refreshing post and something different than what most of us have written for the contest.

And I do know what you mean. The fact that we who get through everything without any major problem in life, often tend to take things for granted. We do need to take a minute and be thankful for the people in our life who’ve helped us reach where we are today and without whom life probably wouldn’t be the same.

Very beautifully worded. You are so right in calling out the people who are in the background who make you what you are today. I am extremely happy for you to find the support structure needed to excel. There are things we take for granted. I am glad you acknowledge them and understand the nature of your and their own sacrifices!
It did make me take a step back and silently thank the right people for me as well! Good Luck to you as well!

Its very easy to make sacrifices for your own sake. But its a lot harder to make sacrifices for other people. Women have always been told that it was part of the job description of being a woman. However, realising that you are on the recieving end of someone else’s sacrifice can be really humbling.

Anger is an emotion. Emotions are themselves neither good nor bad. Its the actions that they produce are good or bad, again depending on the condition. You wouldn’t want a soldier to be not angry on the battle field. But it would be bad if he runs towards the line of fire in his anger.

In your case, if you remained angry till the day you took the exam again, I have no doubt in saying that you did worse then what you are capable of.

Like all emotions, anger too has to channeled to constructive use. If you made your anger make you work harder, its great. If not, your anger was a waste. And attributing a success after a failure just to anger seems a bit off. Can you be sure that only anger made you to succeed this time ??? I dont think so.

The very same thing happened to me last month, failed an assessment in the first time in my life, and it had brought out such unexpected things in me that I had either ignored or tried to suppress. Just exploded! I became so anxious about everything and anything, and would be scared of the stupidest things. But slowly, with the help and understanding of friends and some mentors, slowly recovering and possibly even growing.

well… thats life…… have you ever seen that movie accidental hero?? in that movie, the name of the main character is Bernie (played by dustin hoffman)… well the first thing that came to my mind when i read this was a line that he says in that movie…. he said "life is a whole lot of layers of bullshit…. and the truth is which layer of bullshit you want to believe in" i think i might have an idea as to what you were talking about in that… just remember… there are always different points of views because not 2 people ever experience the same things in any situation…. it is what you take away from the situation that makes that picture…. just remember that before you let something really bother you….

I kinda feel the same way a lot of times.But would you be more happy if your life went the way you wanted it to, or if it jumped up and bit you when you least expected it.
